Monica Forbes is the Executive Director of the PEER Wellness Center, Inc and PEER Recovery Supports of Idaho, LLC in Boise. She is a Returning Citizen and has 12 years in recovery. Monica is an Idaho pioneer in Peer Recovery services who is very passionate and driven. She serves on numerous local and State boards affiliated with Recovery and Behavioral Health services. Monica is a certified Recovery Coach and PEER Support Specialist who brings over 15 years of experience in training, business management, customer service, and social work to PEER Wellness Center. She holds two degrees, in Medical Assisting and Social Work, and she is on the Honor Roll as she works towards a BS in Psychology with a focus on Addictions. She is also a SMART Recovery Certified Facilitator and CRAFT trained in Community Reinforcement and Recovery Training. Monica isn’t really a big fan of spiders. Her favorite thing about working at PEER Wellness Center is the amazing people that she has the privilege of working with every day …and the coffee!!
Mark Renick is a Returning Citizen as well. He has over 12 years in Recovery. He works part-time as a Recovery Coach. He also vigorously and graciously volunteers much of his time mentoring Returning Citizens. He facilitates a energetic, Christian support group called Victory over Sin which is held two nights a week at PEER Wellness Center. He is Director of his own non-profit called IMSI Hope Community Phase II. He is Co-chairperson of a new St. Vincent de Paul Project called Systemic Change of Idaho. It is an advocacy program for Returning Citizens that works on developing winning campaigns in implementing innovative approaches to addressing the challenges of Re-entry and change in restorative justice. Mark also hosts a Systemic Change of Idaho radio show. It is a weekly, guest oriented, program that discusses Recovery, barriers and issues that Returning Citizens face, along with the system and operations of the Idaho Department of Corrections.
